Rutland Regional Medical Center

Rutland Regional Medical Center, implementing several important growth
initiatives, needed to increase the test capacity of its Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. It also sought to improve quality of care, performance of the supply chain, and accountability.

Through group training and individual coaching by PSG, laboratory staff
developed an implementation plan for the standardization of work and visual systems. Initial gains included a 30 percent reduction in non-labor expenses and a 33 percent increase in quality. Employees also reported better workflow and easier training of new staff.
