History

With an 11-year track record of helping Vermont manufacturers improve profitability and reduce waste though application of the Toyota Production System’s Lean manufacturing practices, the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center launched the not-for-profit Process Strategies Group business unit in January, 2006.

PSG helps Vermont’s healthcare organizations develop and implement process improvement strategies and methods that achieve and sustain greater efficiency, continued high quality, improved patient satisfaction, and lower costs.

Partnerships for Success

Working in partnership with Lean Healthcare West, a Montana organization that pioneered the use of Lean tools in healthcare settings, PSG developed the pilot Lean Healthcare Transformation Project for Gifford Medical Center.

In launching PSG, VMEC built on a strong history of accomplishment. Since 1996, VMEC has provided professional advice and assistance to more than 780 Vermont manufacturers.

nurseIn the past three years, the average reported Return on Investment (ROI) to companies as a direct result of VMEC services has been $114 for every one dollar invested.

Now PSG, as the exclusive Vermont licensee of Lean Healthcare West products and services, extends the proven benefits of Lean to hospitals, long-term care facilities, medical practices, and clinics throughout the state.
